The Matchup of #1 Eastside Catholic (5-0) vs #5 O’Dea (5-0) will be a rematch of last years classic.

A Look into Eastside Catholic

Eastside Catholic is a star studded team with D1 prospects all over their roster. Eastside Catholic has been rolling ever sense their week 1 matchup against Gonzaga  Prep. The dynamic duo on offense of 2020 4-star WR Gee Scott Jr (6-3 180) a recent USC offeree and 2020 TE DJ Rogers (6-4 240) a recent USC offeree as well has helped senior QB Zach Lewis to a fast start.  Along the offensive line the crusaders are led by the states number one center Jackson Reed (6-2 280). On defense senior 3-star safety Malik Putney (6-1 180) who holds multiple D1 offers has been by far the MVP but has also gotten a lot of help from Senior DE Cade Peacock (6-4 240) a recent Montana state offeree. As well as two underclassmen In Freshman OLB/DE JT Tuimoloau (6-4 240) USC and UW offers as well as sophomore CB Ayden Hector (6-0 180) who also was recently offered by USC.

Keys to winning

The biggest Key for Eastside Catholic will be their front 7. O’Dea will run it early and often. Eastside Catholic will need to slow down the run game of O’Dea and force them to pass the ball this game.

The X Factor

The X Factor for Eastside Catholic will be senior wide receiver Marcus Stoebner (5-11 200). With a lot of the focus going towards the national recruits in the class of 2020 Gee Scott Jr and DJ Rogers, This is where Marcus will show his ability to why he is considered one of the top senior WR’s in the state with his great hands and his crisp route running ability.

A look into O’Dea

O’Dea is a run first team that is led by senior tailback Jaymn Patu (6-0 195) who is a considered among the top running backs in the state. Along with Patu in the back field is fellow senior Connor Gregoire (5-9 190) who brings another tough runner to the O’Dea ground game. Leading the passing attack is junior Quarterback Emonte Scott (6-3 195) who has the ability to run and throw the ball. Defensively the irish are led by senior lineman VJ Malo (6-1 245) who is a terror up front and junior corner Mishael Powell (6-0 180) and fellow senior safety Parker D’Anna (5-11 190).

Keys to winning

For O’Dea, the major key is atop the aerial attack of the crusaders, if O’Dea can make them run the ball and chew the clock that’s in their favor.

The X Factor

The X factor for O’Dea is Junior quarterback Emonte Scott. In a game that will see EC load the box it will be key for Scott to be money on the rare occasions O’Dea throws the ball and connect with his targets senior J.P. Moriarty (5-10 170) as well as fellow senior Miles Taliaferro (6-3 195).

Bottom Line

The most anticipated matchup in 3A all year is finally here and it will be a dandy.

This game will be a good one but I see Eastside Catholic getting revenge from last year and winning 34-21.
