A Look Kennedy Catholic

Kennedy Catholic is coming off a very impressive 52-point win week 1 against Chief Stealth that saw them put up video game numbers. Heading the passing attack for the lancers is 2021 4-star QB Sam Huard (6-2 180) who also happens to be rated the #1 Pro Style QB in the country for his grade. When the lancers do run the ball look for junior Zaire Lozolo (5-10 200) to take the bulk of the carries. At WR Kennedy has play makers everywhere led by 2021 nation recruit Jabez Tinae (6-1 190) who already holds four Pac 12 Offers. Tinae is accompanied by 2021 Junior Alexander (6-3 185) as well as 2020 3-Star Justin Baker (5-10 175) who both hold D1 offers from Sacramento State as well they have 2021 Reed Shumpert (5-10 170). Up front for the lancers they are anchored by junior Lei-Ben Fesili (6-1 240). Defensively the lancers front 7 is led by Junior DL Jahvius Leui (5-11 235) and at the linebacker spot senior Garrett Koller (6-1 200). The secondary for the Lancers features 3 freshmen with a safety tandem of freshman in Kieran Collins (6-1 180) and Noah Rushing (6-0 180). Locking down at corner is freshman Amir Cornett (6-0 170) as well as two juniors Davis Dengah (6-0 190) and Justin Baker (5-10 175).

Keys to winning

The biggest Key for Kennedy Catholic will be their front seven, as Bothell is a physical team upfront and likes to run the ball it is imperative that the lancers front seven to be stout in that phase of the game.

The X Factor

The X Factor for Kennedy Catholic will be the three freshman in the back end as they get their first real test of the season against one of the best programs in the state of Washington, this game will really show if those freshmen are ready to grow and take on the cougars.

A look into Bothell

Bothell is coming off an impressive out of state win beating legacy HS of Colorado 40-13 in their opener. Under center for the cougars is senior Erik Bainter (6-2 190) who is the son of head coach Tom Bainter. Bothell features one of the best running backs in the state of Washington in junior Christian Galvan (5-10 180) who can break it loose on any play. Through the air Bainter looks for senior 2-star WR Riley Morrison (5-9 170) and senior Mason Lockname (6-1 170).  In the trenches Bothell is anchored by junior Christopher Bailey (6-1 250). On defense it starts up front with sophomore Gabe Johnson (6-3 210) at defensive end and at linebacker it is a two headed monster with senior Kainoa China (6-0 200) and junior Colin Fisherkeller (6-0 200). The secondary is led by 2-star senior Darius Kubalanza (6-1 180) who’s the team’s lockdown corner.

Keys to winning

For Bothell the key to winning is running the ball, in a game like this you want to be able to run it and grind the clock because the less time Kennedy’s offense has the ball the better for Bothell.

The X Factor

The X-Factor for Bothell is Senior Quarterback Erik Bainter, Erik has already shown the big stage isn’t too much for him (road win in Colorado week 1). Erik doesn’t have to go stat for stat with Huard but does need to show his ability to slow the game down and if he can do that Bothell will be in good shape.

Bottom Line

A matchup of one of the up and coming elite programs in WA in Kennedy Catholic vs an established elite power in Bothell.

In the end I feel that Kennedy’s offense will be too much to handle and their defense will get enough stops to propel them to a 42-21 win over Bothell.
